Creating User Defined Nutrients |
Overview The content of the Nutrient Constraints grid of ration records and the Nutrients grid of feed records is determined by the content of the Master Nutrient List. Items on the list that are specific to the NRC 2001 model are permanent members of the list and cannot be edited or deleted. There are also a few other items that are required for the functioning of specific features of Formulate2 that may not be edited or deleted. Other than those items, you may add, edit and delete items as you wish. You can access the list from either the ration or feed record forms by clicking on the Other menu and selecting and clicking on the Maintenance & Registration menu option.
From the Maintenance Utilities form, click on the System menu and select and click on the Master Nutrient List menu option.
To add a nutrient to the list once the nutrient list is displayed, click on the appropriate View button to display the list you want to work with. Then click on the Add button. The actual list assignment is made by clicking on the Constrainable and Feeds items shown below and selecting Yes or No from the drop-down lists. Clicking on the Calculation Type item will display the Select Calculation Types form. From the Available types list select a calculation symbol and from the Available nutrients list a nutrient is selected. Next, click on the Make button and the calculation type in the correct syntax will appear in the calculation box at the bottom of the form. To accept the type, click on the OK button.
Type in the name of the nutrient item and your entries are finished. Click on the Add Item button to add the new item to the list or click on Cancel to abort the add operation.
The position of the new item within the nutrient list determines its position in the record forms. When added, new items first appear at the bottom of the list.
To position the new item within the list, press and hold the Ctrl key, point to the item with the mouse and depress and hold the left mouse button. When the highlight bar changes from green to black, move the mouse to the new position and release the mouse button and the Ctrl key. The new item will follow the mouse pointer to the new position.
Editing a nutrient is very similar. When you're finished, click on the OK button to implement the changes. When you're asked to confirm the changes, click on OK button and Formulate2 will update all tables affected by the changes. The time involved to make the changes will depend upon the number and size of the tables affected.
