Creating User Defined Constraint Types |
Overview All nutrients are define by their constraint type. The type defines how the nutrient item is stipulated. For example, if the RDP constraint type is %DMI then the value for the RDP constraint value would be calculated as a percentage of dry matter intake. Sometimes it can be very useful to have more than one method of stating a nutrient constraint. In the screen image below you will find two different types associated with Lysine and Methionine. DDgms (Duodenal Digestible grams) is found in the Calc Type column and %MP(DD 2001) is found in the Type column next to the User Min column (here DD is Dynamically Determined). The %MP(DD 2001) type is a User Defined constraint type. As with constraint values themselves, User Defined constraint types take precedence over types in the Calc Type column.
In this scenario the %MP(DD 2001) user type allows us to redefine lysine and methionine constraints as percentages of Metabolizable Protein. Formulate2 allows you to create User Types to suit you preferences. Here's What You Do ... This illustrations uses the user defined types for Lysine as an example. From the ration or feed record form, click on the Other menu and select and click on the Maintenance & Registration menu option.
From the Maintenance Utilities form, click on the System menu and select and click on the Master Nutrient List menu option.
When the Nutrient List is displayed, click on the Rations button in the View options group to display the nutrient items found on the Nutrient Constraints tab of the ration record.
Next, to select and highlight the item you want to work with, left click on it then right click to display the popup menu. Select and click on the Create/Edit User Types menu option.
When the User Types form is displayed first select the type you wish to use from the list of available types.
Then select the subject nutrient.
